Boja’s Foods was founded during the spring of 1975 by Bob and Pauline Sanders in Southern Alabama. The company’s title, pronounced “Bojays,” is a combination of the names, Bob, the founder of the company, and James, the first plant manager. As a family-run business, we worked together to achieve one mission: making a quality product for our customers.
Our plant is located in a small fishing community at the southern tip of Alabama called Bayou La Batre. Known as the Seafood Capital of Alabama, Bayou La Batre is, naturally, a leader in the seafood industry. Not only is Bayou La Batre famous for Boja’s Foods, but, you may also remember our little community from the movie Forrest Gump. Also, in 2005, Disney Studios launched a secretly built pirate ship, the “Black Pearl,” out of Bayou La Batre for filming sequels to Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.
